About Me

My name is Meriel and I am a self taught multi media artist. I became a pastel artist many years ago and of all the mediums I use, they were my first love. I love the way I can layer and blend colours which makes them perfect for portraits of people and animals. I found acrylic paints some years later which allowed me to expand my painting range and develop new skills. I recently found pen, ink and wash which, I have to say, has become a bit of an addiction. I love being able to grow and expand my abilities, there is so much ​fun to be had in learning new skills. Growing up in the South Wales Valleys I spent much of my childhood with my feet in the streams, climbing up the mountains and playing hide and seek in the woods. It was there that I developed a love for trees, wild flowers and the magical beings that everyday grownup eyes don't see, fairies, elves and sleeping dragons. This love of nature has had a huge influence on my artwork and it is a joy that I will always continue to explore.
